For all those who are wondering why i paint the first layer in Acrylic's: I do this because the acrylic layer dry's in a few minutes. So, once the acrylic layer is dry, i can start working in oil paint. If i were to use oils for the first layer, i would have to paint rather thick to get the same coverage as with the acrylic paint. This would mean that i would have to wait at least a week before the oil paint is dry enough to paint a second layer on top. Now i like things to go fast, i want to see result's in minutes. With the acrylic layer, this is possible!
But of course, it will definitely take a finishing layer in oilpaint to get the perfect result. Which means, great depth of colour, warm tones and rich paint strokes. In this picture you can see the the first layer in Acrylic's on the left. Here I already painted his hat and the left part of the sunglasses in oil.
In the picture on the right, the full portrait is now finished in oils. you can see the obvious difference.
